Futuroscope, science and fun in France

9 November, 2012 0 Comments

Futuroscope is one of those destinations that it is not as well known as Disneyland, but that when you visit it, you praise to everybody. For those who do not know, Futuroscope is an amusement park located in the department of Vienne, in the midwest of France, just 10 kms from Poitiers, capital of the region of Poitou Charentes.

But it is not a typical park: there is no roller coasters or norias or bumper cars. Futuroscope is a park focused on high technology, in the treatment of images in 3D and 4D. In this technological park you can enjoy large hemispheric screens, spectacular projections and attractions in the that you will be the protagonist. The little ones will also have their space: more than two hectares in which there are giant tyrolean, bicycles on water, slides, and even a arcade gallery where they can play their favorite games.

Futuroscope combines science and fun. Among its attractions you can enjoy, for example, a magnificent planetarium in which you will make a voyage in space and time. The show, called “Cosmic Collisions”, will show you how our world was formed, its evolution, and future. You can also fly over the earth with “Travellers by Air and by Sea” and activate the imagination of the younger ones with “Sea Monster” where they will explore in 3D the depths of the ocean and swim with giant sea creatures eighty million years ago. If you want real fun, don’t miss “Dances with Robots” (tell us if you have ordered the third level, few are as brave).

Each year new attractions opened (in this 2012, for example, have opened “The Little Prince” and “The Machines of da Vinci“, to name a few) so the entertainment is always insured.

But the star attraction remains “Arthur, the 4D adventure“, based on the adventures of Arthur and the Minimoys. Imagine yourself become a maximum elevationand and risen in a ladybug that, at full speed, travels in the fantastic world of Arthur … I’ll assure you that you’ll want to repeat again and again!

And my last recommendation: don’t miss “The Blue Note Mystery“!. Each night, before closing the park, a wonderful spectacle of light, sound and magic takes place on the great central lake. It will delight you!.

– How to get to Futuroscope.

If you’re in Paris, you can reach Futuroscope by TGV in 1 hour and 20 minutes. From Poitiers you can catch a train that takes you in 20 minutes, or go by bus or even taxi.
